Journey Builder

How it works

From two place names to a day-by-day plan

Here's how a trip comes together in Journey Builder, and what it does for you at each step.

1

Tell us about your trip

One short form: where you start, where you're going, round trip or one way, how you're getting there, how many days, and who's coming. It takes about two minutes, and you can change any of it later.

  • Drive, fly, take the bus or the train
  • Up to 90 days
2

Your route appears

Journey Builder routes every leg and works out its distance and drive time. It ranks the towns along the way, and while you look, it's already finding good stops for you.

  • A live map with every stop numbered
  • Four ways to view it: full route, stops, travel legs, sleep stops
3

Choose your roads

Take the fastest way or fewer highways. Then, leg by leg, drag the route onto the exact road you want, like the coast road instead of the interstate.

  • See the extra time each choice adds
  • Your roads update the drive times, the map and your days

4

Add your stops and nights

Add the towns you want from the top picks along your route, from a search, a typed list or a map. Set the nights for each stop, or let Journey Builder spread them for you.

  • Every suggestion shows its detour time
  • Drive-through stops for the places you only pass

5

Pick what to do, where to eat and where to stay

Each stop comes with things to do, restaurants and places to stay already found. Filter to what suits you, or ask the AI chat.

  • Hotels close to your activities
  • Add the places you already know

6

Lock in what's already booked

A dinner reservation, a tour, a show: add it as an anchor and it's planned first. A booked hotel pins your check-in.

  • Everything else fits around your fixed plans
7

Get your days

Auto-schedule arranges your picks into each day, around wake-up and bedtime, drives, meals, check-ins and your anchors, at the pace you chose. It usually takes a minute or three.

  • One day, all days, or the days you choose
  • What doesn't fit is set aside, not deleted

8

Fine-tune, then go

Drag anything to a new time, lock what matters, and check each day's daylight, driving and weather. The trip overview puts the whole plan on one page.

  • Warnings when a day doesn't add up, with a one-tap fix
  • Costs and bookings kept with the trip
